These 9cm by 9cm hardboard coasters have a practical high gloss finish and feature an unusual pattern of various species of solitary bee found in Britain.

The design was created using detailed ink and watercolour illustrations painted for the Types of Bee poster. Most people will be aware of honey bees and bumblebees. In Britain we have around 270 species of bee and the majority of them (just under 250 species) are solitary bees. Solitary bees carry out the bulk of pollination in the U.K. They can be categorised into the following groups: Mining bees, Flower bees and Sweat bees. The insects featured in this design are the Tawny mining bee, the Ashy mining bee, the Willoughby leaf-cutter, the Wool carder bee, the Hairy-footed flower bee and the Red mason bee. These coasters can make lovely gifts for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, gardeners and entomologists and make an attractive addition to any home.

The coasters are lightweight and wipe clean, making them practical as well as pretty. They are 9cm by 9cm square with stylish rounded corners and are approximately 3mm thick. Each order is hand packaged and I try to make every one special. Each order contains a business card and a handwritten note of thanks. Orders for individual coasters will be wrapped in tissue and secured with a Rachel Corney Illustration sticker before being sent out in padded paper mailers. Orders for multiple coasters will be wrapped and placed in a branded box before being sent out in a padded paper mailer. Gift messages can be included with orders at checkout. All standard orders are sent using Royal Mail First Class.
